How to set Antivirus Exclusions for Avast Business Antivirus on PC Running Windows 10

  1. Locate the icon for Avast Business Antivirus in the bottom right hand of the screen. Right click and select ‘Avast shields control > Disable permanently’. The AV will be turned on again once we have installed the software and set exclusions.

  1. Go to and log in with your account info.
  1. Run the installer, which can be downloaded after logging into your account. At the end of the install, you will be asked if you want to reboot your computer. DO NOT reboot the computer right away.
  1. In the bottom right corner of the screen, right click the Avast icon and click ‘Open Avast user interface’. In the bottom left corner of the Avast interface is a small gear labeled ‘Settings’, click on it to access the anti-virus settings.

  1. On the left-hand side of the screen should be some tabs, select ‘General’ and scroll down to a drop down option labeled ‘Exclusions’. Click on the drop down and click on the button labeled ‘Add’. This will lead you to a search bar with the buttons ‘Delete’ and ‘browse’. Click on ‘browse’ and find the installation folder path, which can be found under 'Account Settings' in the InterGuard web interface. For this example, our installation folder is located in ‘C:\\Windows\SysWOW64\dmktc’. Click on the small box next to this directory to add this folder to the exclusions. Click ‘OK’ and close the program. You may now reboot your computer.
